Talk to your Soul ......

After a short commercial break .Back again to blogging. At times I was too busy and at times I was too lazy .And now finally something to share with you all :) I am not  carnatic Singer Im just a Bathroom Singer. When I was looking for a perfect topic to prepare for my Advance Level speech I did a small Research (googled ..hahaha) and explored few facts about Raagas, which turned out to be a very interesting.

Art of Thinking in sound is Music.Listening to Music kindles our thoughts makes us  nostalgic to remember our school days,Long last Friends,First crush, farewell.Happiness, sorrow whatever may be the feeling we love to hear Music. When we hear a peppy song we feel like dancing ,When we hear a romantic song our heart melts, when we hear a pathetic song we become depressed. There is a connection between the swaras and our soul.In ancient India, there is a tradition , that pregnant women who listen to the music of Veena are assured of safe delivery. It is said that the first sense that develops in a child in the womb is the “hearing sense” and the harmonic music emanating from the strings of  Veena –the divine instrument  penetrates the womb and makes the child feel the divine soothing effect. Music from strings has the capacity to  penetrate the skin. Music on Veena is said to be very effective since the structure of Veena is very much identical to the structure of a human body.Just like the 24 frets of the Veena, human back bone has 24 divisions.

Here you go one of my favourite song in Veena .

Music with a strong beat can stimulate brainwaves to resonate in sync with the beat, with faster beats bringing sharper concentration and more alert thinking, and a slower tempo promoting a calm and meditative state.Changes in Brain waves brings changes in the body functions and breathing rate. Music beats have a very close relationship with heart beats.

Music having 70-75 beats per minute equivalent to the normal heart beat of 72 has a very soothing effect. Likewise rhythms which are slower than 72 beats per minute create a positive suspense on the mind and body. Rhythms which are faster than the heart rate excite and rejuvenate the body. But Im sure You would get up dance for this fast Beat :)

Good music is indeed therapeutic, and all ragas, in their own way, soothe the mind. One raga that is proven to reduce high blood-pressure levels, promote mental stability and cure depression is Anandabhairavi. A typically classical raga that thrives on melodic oscillations and majestic glides, Anandabhairavi spreads the feeling of joy and fulfillment. Some Songs based on this Raaga.

Nadhiye Nadhiye” from the film “Rhythm”.

"Anbedra mazhayiley" from  "Minsara Kanavu"

We feel blissful and energetic when we often visit Temples there is a scientific reason behind that. The rhythmic sounds of temple bells and conch produced during devotional practices have also been found to have therapeutic applications.

This is just a glimpse from what I had delivered in my speech.I carried my Laptop and speakers to  add effect and played few songs. Every speech is  not to complete and get an additional point and complete my Educational award. Indeed I consider it as a learning experience to explore new Ideas.

You can talk to your inner soul through Music.I talk to my soul .Do you Talk??Share your Thoughts :)
